Cheshire Brewing Company; Pottstown’s Newest Nano Brewery

Cheshire Brewing Company is Pottstown’s new downtown nano-brewery. This is the latest project from some of the owners at  J.J. Ratigan’s Brewing Company, to offer a different and unique experience from what they have already established.

The new nano-brewery, located inside Stave and Stable at 232 King Street which is one block from J.J. Ratigan’s Brewing, will specialize in sour beers and unique IPAs. We spoke with head brewer Randy Young, who told us that Cheshire Brewing’s beer is themed after Alice in Wonderland, and is produced on a 2 barrel brewhouse with 3 fermenters.

“Our small size allows us to get creative with our ingredients. Our Sour Cat Razz is currently one of our fan favorites. It’s very sour, with raspberry and blackberry purée and a hint of vanilla to help balance everything together.” says Randy Young, head brewer at Cheshire Brewing and J.J. Ratigan’s.

Stave and Stable utilizes farm-to-table ingredients and produces food styles that are distinctly American. There is a focus on the “low and slow” of classic American BBQ, with meats and other ingredients slow-cooked on a wood smoker. The taproom has four taps, a full restaurant, and an outdoor dining area.

In addition to their taproom at Stave And Stable in Pottstown, Cheshire will have beer on tap in several local beer gardens and in their 2nd taproom at the Creekside Market 7909 High School Road in Elkins Park.

Cheshire is the fourth brewery in Pottstown, and just like the others, are working to be a part of Pottstown’s revitalization. Follow the brewery on Facebook and Instagram to continue to see their growth for yourself.
