476 Appalachian Pale Ale Will Be Featured Three Rivers Beer Week Collaboration
As we reported earlier this year, The Pittsburgh Brewers Guild (PBG) and the Asheville Brewers Alliance (ABA) had planned a collaboration beer in honor of the inaugural “Three Rivers Beer Week”. Which is the official Pittsburgh based craft beer week taking place in October of this year. And now that collaboration beer officially has a name.
The two organizations will team together to brew 476 Appalachian Pale Ale.
The name comes from the distance in miles between Pittsburgh’s Point State Park, where the city’s three rivers meet, and Asheville’s vibrant downtown area. The style – an Appalachian Pale Ale – will reflect the deep appreciation the collaboration organizers have for lower-alcohol beers that burst with fruity, citrusy flavors underscored by a supportive malt body.
“We’re planning to brew a nice, sessionable beer that’s in the 5.0 to 5.5 percent alcohol range,” said Matt McMahon, vice chairman of the Pittsburgh Brewers Guild and co-owner of Eleventh Hour Brewing in Lawrenceville. The beer will be brewed at Eleventh Hour in September and released at the beginning of Three Rivers Beer Week, which will be held Oct. 6th through Oct. 10th, 2021. The plan is to use ingredients from Pennsylvania and North Carolina.
“We look forward to coming up for brew day, taking in the great beer scene our friends in Pittsburgh have created and making a product beer fans in both our regions will enjoy,” said Brandi Hillman, co-owner of Asheville’s Hillman Brewing and president of the Asheville Brewers Alliance.
