Former Cold War missile command center transformed into a state-of-the-art brewery and taproom
Grist House Craft Brewery, currently based in Millvale, is proud to announce the opening of Grist House Command, a one-of-a-kind brewery and taproom built inside a former Cold War missile command center. This long-awaited historic transformation blends deep local roots with bold craft beer innovation, creating a destination unlike anything else in Western Pennsylvania.
Grist House Command officially opens to the public on Saturday, September 6th at 11 AM. The Grand Opening will be Saturday from 11 AM – 10 PM. The brewery will also be open Sunday, September 7th, from 11 AM – 8 PM.

The new location features three expansive, dog-friendly decks with sweeping views, designed for sipping and socializing. Inside, guests will find a full kitchen serving a unique menu inspired by family recipes, alongside an ever-rotating lineup of Grist House beers brewed on-site.
“This project has been years in the making,” said Brian Eaton, co-owner of Grist House Craft Brewery. “We wanted to create something that not only celebrates our love of craft beer, but also honors the incredible history of this site.”
“This space is a piece of Pittsburgh history,” said Kyle Mientkiewicz of Grist House Craft Brewery. “We’re proud to honor its past while creating a place where friends, families, and our community can gather over great beer and food.”
In addition to the taproom and kitchen, this new location will host a brand new 30-barrel brew system, allowing Grist House to expand on its already extensive tap list and experiment with new styles.
