Local Philly Breweries Collab On Spring Arts Beer Garden Opening Until Labor Day

Spring Arts Beer Garden announces its grand opening at 12:00 pm on Saturday, June 26th, located at 1006 Buttonwood Street in Philadelphia. The beer garden will be open every Saturday 12:00 pm to 10:00 pm and Sunday 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm through Labor Day. Guests can enjoy beers from four local breweries; Love City Brewing, Roy Pitz Brewing Company, Triple Bottom Brewing Company, and Yards Brewing Co. Local food trucks will serve food. The beer garden is dog-friendly, and children are welcome but must remain at a table.

Since the shutdown order was put in place for Pennsylvania, local breweries have suffered. They’ve had to get creative and find solutions for serving customers, while still keeping everyone safe from possible COVID-19 transmission. The four breweries in the Spring Arts neighborhood recognized an opportunity in a large, mostly empty parking lot next to Love City Brewing.

Melissa Walter, cofounder of Love City Brewing explains, “The lot is used by businesses in nearby office buildings during the week, so we saw the opportunity to operate there over the weekend. Since outdoor dining is allowed now, we wanted to take advantage of the open space.”

Love City spearheaded this initiative and reached out to its close neighbors at Triple Bottom, Roy Pitz, & Yards to gauge their interest. The lot is owned by Arts & Crafts Holdings and they fully support the breweries’ effort to activate the space and continue to build community during this challenging time.

“We’re excited to continue to collaborate with our neighboring breweries and property owners in finding creative ways to engage with guests in a safe and exciting way this summer. This effort definitely shows how businesses like ours can work together and find ways to promote growth for all,” says Mike Treon, Co-Owner of Roy-Pitz Brewing Company.

Breweries have always been community-minded, and Tess Hart, owner of Triple Bottom Brewing, believes that this beer garden is just another example: “The brewing industry has always been a place of community. Over the last few months, we’ve learned to lean on each other more than ever — from group texts as we were all deciding to close our taprooms, to sharing updates on funding sources and new information on safety protocols. We’re grateful to be continuing that spirit of collaboration by joining our neighbors to create this wonderful summer beer garden for our communities.”

Safety will be a top priority – guests are required to wear a mask unless they are seated at a table. No standing room, as everyone will be required to be seated with their drinks. Hand sanitizer will be readily available.
