Lolev Brewing Is Coming To Lawrenceville In 2022

Lolev Brewing is coming to the Pittsburgh neighborhood of Lawrenceville at 5247 butler Street. They are aiming to open in the summer of 2022.

We recently spoke with co-owner Ted Slesinski about the brand, the building, and what beer fans can expect once they open.

We first had to ask Ted: What’s in the name “Lolev”? Ted told us that previously, they had used the name “Lower Level” during their time homebrewing. They wanted to keep some form of it and combined the two words to create something shorter and unique.

Read our conversation with Ted about Lolev Brewing:

BIPA: What stage are you currently in?

Ted: We are about to acquire the building in October in Upper Lawrenceville at 5247 Butler Street. From there, we will be working through permitting and construction.

BIPA: How did you become initially interested in craft beer?

Ted: My brother Scott and I have been homebrewing for years, we have made almost every style of beer that exists. That being said, we have been inspired by breweries that have carefully curated and iterated their offerings to make beer more interesting and approachable and this has shaped the way we brew beer.

Scott Sesinski, my brother, will be the head brewer at Lolev. He most recently brewed at Braeloch Brewing in Kennett Square, PA.

BIPA: Can you describe the space you are opening?

Ted: The 7,500 sq/ft building we are about to close on in Lawrenceville used to be a number of things, and most recently it was a gym. We are going to be putting in a 20bbl system with six – 20bbl fermenters and ten 20bbl brite tanks, and 6 foeders. We will serve off of the tanks, ensuring the freshest draft beer possible.

BIPA: What styles of beers will you focus on?

Ted: We want to focus less on “styles of beer” and more on ideal representation of styles to make them appealing to everyone. We hope to offer selections of beer from every style possible, as long as it is well crafted prior to being released to our customers.

BIPA: Will you release crowlers/cans there as well?

Ted: We are planning on to offer cans for sure!

BIPA: Will there be food offered?

Ted: We will not have a kitchen onsite. Instead, we will be scheduling food trucks from the great food scene Pittsburgh has to offer.

Give Lolev Brewing a follow on Facebook and Instagram to keep up with their progress. We will be following the brewery’s progress as they work towards opening in 2022.
