Necromancer Expands Its Taproom with Seats, Games, and More

Necromancer Brewing has been growing since its opening in 2021 and celebrated its first anniversary this May.

With the increase in traffic and demand, the North Hills-based brewery is opening its Brew House area permanently, while they work on their new taproom, brewhouse, and expansion plans, which were announced back in May as well.

The new area in the Brew House will serve as an extension of the front taproom and will feature a layout that includes 30 additional seats with Oktoberfest bench seating, and room for over 100 people. Beer fans will be able to plan games in this space, and Necromancer will also have the projector playing something.

We spoke with Necromancer co-owner Ben Butler and he had the below to tell us:

Why we did it

Our Phase 1 taproom is about 60 seats and is nearly always standing room only. Simply, we wanted to provide more places to sit.

Beyond that, we also wanted to provide some games and entertainment to take that experience to the next level. Our team is always seeking places with games when we go out together. So we’re really just further creating the place we’d hang out ourselves in.

As everyone knows in PA, winter is truly upon us as we experience single-digit weather as of writing this. So the move to add more seats to get people out of the cold — as others are shutting down their outdoor spaces — seems like good timing.

Plans for an Additional Bar

We’re going to take it one day at a time to see if we need to open a secondary bar in the Brew House space. If we start to see some very busy spikes, we’ll definitely get one in there pronto.

Currently, we’re trying to keep two people up front to help with the expanded demand and capacity.

Rentals

With this space built out, we’re open to private events, rentals, or just table reservations.
