One Year Later, Truth Beer Co. Doubles Down With Expanded Taproom In Lancaster City

You can add Truth Beer Company to the growing list of breweries in PA with expansion plans. The Lancaster county brewery has been working towards opening a new taproom location at 928 N. Prince Street in Lancaster, PA, which should sound like a familiar address for local craft beer fans. Over the last two years this space had been home to Cartel Brewing who has since moved out and opened in a new location themselves.

The expansion comes just shortly after Truth Beer Co. celebrated one year in business. The brewing company originally opened in Akron, PA in the fall of 2022 by co-owners Dave Timblin and Ryan White, who had been homebrewing together for roughly 9 years prior to launching Truth Beer Co. Along with his homebrewing experience, Dave had also spent time honing his craft at local favorite Pour Man’s Brewing prior to venturing towards brewery ownership.

Over the last year Truth Beer Co. has focused on providing the local community with a variety of “accessible beers” on their 5 BBL direct-fire brewing system and have made a name for themselves in a short period of time. You can learn more about the brewery from a Q&A we posted with their ownership prior to when they first opened.

The new 1,200 square foot taproom will allow Truth Beer Co. to build on the initial success they have seen in the year since opening. The space will feature 10 to 12 draft lines with special guest taps being offered from time to time. In addition they plan to serve wine and canned cocktails along with the wide variety of beer. This expansion will also allow the brewery to continue to expand their food options. Currently their Akron location primarily features snack foods. With the opening of this new space on Prince Street this will allow Truth Beer Co. to begin offering a variety of sandwiches and hot specials.

In a conversation with Timblin about the space we learned that the expansion was the necessary next step for the business. Timblin confirmed that Truth Beer Co. was looking for a way to offer more space for their growing customer base and the opening of this location was the logical next step. In addition to the added space Timblin confirmed that this will allow the brewery more visibility to the public as well as offer more live music for guests to enjoy.

The Prince Street location will be a taproom only with all brewing operations remaining in Akron. Truth Beer Co. plans to close the original taproom temporarily once this new space opens to allow them to focus all of their efforts towards the expansion. There is no word on when the original taproom would re-open to the public. Timblin describes the future taproom as “a fairly turnkey space” since a brewery had just inhabited it most recently. However Truth is working hard towards bringing their own branding and feel to the location.

As of this writing the new location is scheduled to open in early 2024. For now, be sure to keep up with all of Truth Beer Co.’s latest news by following them on Facebook and Instagram. And stop by their original brewery  and taproom at 401 S 7th Street in Akron, PA to experience their offerings for yourself.
