Truth Beer Company To Open This Spring In Lancaster County

“Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth.”

– Henry David Thoreau

Why is the quote above so important? Because it’s that quote that inspired the name behind Truth Beer Company whocoming soon to Lancaster County. The new brewery is opening up at 401 South 7th Street in Akron, PA, with an estimated opening of Spring 2022.

We recently spoke with co-owners Dave Timblin and Ryan White to see what beer fans can expect from the new brewery. See below for our Q&A with them!

BIPA: What stage are you currently in?

Dave & Ryan: We are in the final stages of licensing and the construction is almost done on the building and brewery.

BIPA: How did you become initially interested in craft beer?

Dave & Ryan: We have been homebrewing together for about 9 years. Dave has been brewing professionally for the last 6 months at Pour Man’s Brewing.

BIPA: What breweries have had you back and helped you on your journey?

Dave & Ryan: A lot of local breweries have helped us out. The guys at Pour Man’s help has been crucial both in answering questions and acting as our mentors and even helping paint. Also incredibly helpful have been our good friends at Moo Duck Brewing whom we brewed a couple collaborations with, Our Town Brewing, Mad Chef Brewing, Raney Cellars, and Cox Brewing.

BIPA: What styles of beers will you focus on?

Dave & Ryan: We will be making a mix of beer styles. We want to make both “accessible beers”, such as easy drinking and traditional styles, and also some more experimental styles. We will have some core favorites: a NE IPA, a fruited sour, and a Pilsner all come to mind. We also have a hibiscus saison we are excited about.

BIPA: Can you describe the space you are opening?

Dave & Ryan: We are opening in a 2,600 sq/ft building that was most recently a car detail shop. It’s a big open garage space with high ceilings.

We will have the brewery on one side, and a to-go spot on the other side. We won’t have a taproom in this space, but we will look in a year or two to expand with a taproom. For our brewhouse, we have a 5 BBL direct-fire system, with three 5 BBL fermenters. We will sell to-go onsite, and also distribute to bars/restaurants.

BIPA: Will you release crowlers/cans there as well?

Dave & Ryan: We will regularly have crowlers to-go and will fill growlers onsite. We will also be doing some small special release
