The site Rate Beer recently released their 2017 list of “Best Beer, Brewer and New Brewer” for every state in the country. And here are your bests for Pennsylvania:
Best Beer:
Voodoo Imperial Breakfast Stout
Ranking the best overall beer in the state can be tough. With the IPA dominating the beer world, and the fact that this state is in no shortage of IPA heavy breweries, it’s amazing to see a stout emerge as #1. But none the less, here we are. Your top beer in Pennsylvania for 2017, according to Rate Beer, is Voodoo Brewing’s Imperial Breakfast Stout (the Woodford Reserve Bourbon Barrels version).

Best Overall Brewer:
Tired Hands Brewing Company
If you’ve ever stood in a Tired Hands release line, this may come to no surprise to you. Tired Hands dominates the state of PA. Live in the Philly area and ever try to complete a beer trade? While you’re ready to offer up a can of beer from a number of breweries, you usually get the same response; “what can you get from Tired Hands?”
So it doesn’t come to a shock to us to see Tired Hands land the number 1 spot for overall Pennsylvania Breweries.

Best New Brewer:
Dancing Gnome Brewing
No surprise here. The beer from Pittsburgh based Dancing Gnome is starting to infiltrate the entire state. We had them at our Philadelphia based Tap Takeover and they crushed it! In fact we heard from many people that Dancing Gnome was the reason they were coming. These folks are doing some amazing things with beer and it comes to no surprise to us that they landed the best new spot.
