The global pandemic has clearly put a strain on plenty of businesses, yet despite all of this the folks at Pour Man’s Brewing (Ephrata, PA) have recently expanded brewing operations.
We recently spoke with Head Brewer/ Owner Ryan Foltz to learn more about the expansion, and what this means for the brewing company moving forward. Including how much the expansion will allow them to increase their yearly production.
BIPA: What was the size of your previous brew system, and how big is it now?
Ryan: “We opened Pour Man’s with a 1bbl system in August of 2018 and we quickly realized we were not able to keep up with that system and bought a 3 bbl system in March 2019. Our new system that we just commissioned in December 2020 is a 10bbl brewhouse.”

BIPA: What kind of brewing equipment was added?
Ryan: “We added a 10bbl brewhouse and completely redid our cellar. So we now have two 10bbl fermenters and three 6bbl fermenters.”
BIPA: How much do you expect production to increase as compared to last year?
Ryan: “We hope to triple our production from 2020!”

BIPA: In what ways is expanded production going to impact the business?
Ryan: “The plan for the expansion is so we can provide more cans in our taproom and also to the local market through our relationships with beer distributors, bottle shops, bars, and restaurants. We will be attempting to keep our flagship IPA Goin’ Broke IPA in stock all the time now as well as our Kölsch Ja’Crispy. While also keeping a constant rotation of one off draft beers available in the taproom like we have been known for.”
