REPORT: Unopened Whiskers Brewing Heavily Damaged In Fire

There has been a fire at the soon-to-open Whiskers Brewing building in Newville, PA.

Per a report from The Sentinel/Cumberlink.com, the fire occurred Monday afternoon, February 28th, at 9 South High Street in downtown Newville.

No cause has been determined yet for the fire, and the state fire marshal is expected to arrive Tuesday to investigate. No injuries were reported, however, a firefighter was taken to the hospital due to smoke inhalation. It is expected to be a total loss.

Whiskers Brewing, named after Dean and Katie Yaukey’s two bulldogs, was set to open in early March. They were waiting for the beer to finish fermenting before opening. The brewery would be the first establishment to bring alcohol back to Newville since 1939.
