Shy Bear Brewing has announced some big news, giving beer fans more access to their beer soon.
The Lewistown-based brewery has revealed its plans for TWO new expansion locations: Altoona and Hershey. (See below for details on each)
Altoona
The brewery’s Altoona location will be inside the Wingate by Wyndham, at 909 Chestnut Avenue, right next to the UPMC Hospital. This location has an estimated opening of early September 2022.
They will be taking over the bar and will have 6 taps of Shy Bear beer, plus PA-made wine and spirits. The seating in the space has room for around 100, with a small patio outside, and they plan to also offer all the same cans/bottles and merchandise here as well.
For food, Shy Bear is looking to have a light menu at some point. Their goal is to have a taproom mentality here and have the food complement the beer. Currently, they’re seeking a highly self-motivated, creative chef for the Altoona location that can also help in a variety of other roles. To apply, please click here.
Hershey
The brewery’s Hershey location will be inside the new Fresh Market at Hershey Towne Square, at 121 Towne Square Drive. This space is being called a new “modern farmers market”, and is located right next to Hershey Park. This location has an estimated opening of Fall 2022.
They will be located on the first floor of this new space, and will not have any taps. Instead, Shy Bear will sell single cans, four packs, bottles, and merchandise to go. There’s also communal seating for the entire market. The Towne Square will feature a first floor of all food and items brought in to sell, and the second floor of all prepared on-site food. Shy Bear is also looking to have this space open Thursday through Saturday.
Stay tuned as there is a second PA brewery to be named, that will also be going to this location.
As you can see, this is a lot of expansion for Shy Bear! Their aim is to have their beer more widely available, and have you also visit them at their main location and brewery in Lewistown, PA.
