Grand Opening: Straub Beer Tap Room And Visitor Center June 19th (St. Marys)

It isn’t just the newer breweries in Pennsylvania expanding into new locations, one of the most historic brands in craft beer also has plans for expansion. Straub Beer, located in Saint Marys, opens a visitor center and tap room on Wednesday, June 19th just a short distance from their brewery.

The space opens on the 19th at 11:00 AM and will resume the following hours:

Monday – Thursday 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Friday – Saturday: 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Sunday: 12:00 Noon – 5:00 PM

Straub’s history dates back to 1872 when Peter Straub first moved to Saint Marys to open the brewery. Peter honed his trade in Germany, France and Switzerland until he moved to America at the age of 19, just 3 years prior to opening the brewery. Peter first got his start brewing in the United States in Allegheny City working at the Eberhardt and Ober Brewing Company.

Now, close to 150 years later, they are onto their next expansion! The brewery has taken a historic Straub Family home, which was originally built in 1917 by Anthony “Tony” Straub (a 2nd generation Straub Family member and former brewery president) and transformed it into a visitor center and tap room. This new space will offer 12 taps, an area for sit down meals, outdoor beer garden and of course the famous Straub Beer to go that the area has come to know and love.

In addition to the food and beer the space will also offer a gift shop and more information on this historic beer company. The new location is a short distance from the brewery and will be located at 444 Brusselles Street.
