Lighthouse 153 is preparing to open at 34 Broadway in Hanover, transforming the former Something Wicked Brewery into a new destination that combines craft beer with a full seafood restaurant. Owners Jessica and Matthew Krumrine purchased the business earlier this year and have spent the past several months renovating and expanding the space in preparation for its opening.

The brewery is currently targeting a late July or early August opening, pending final approval of its Pennsylvania liquor license.

Rather than starting from scratch, Lighthouse 153 retained Something Wicked’s 3-barrel brewing system and hired former Something Wicked brewer Josh Kinard to continue producing beer on-site. Kinard, who got his start as a homebrewer before brewing professionally, said the goal is to build on Hanover’s craft beer community while creating a new identity for Lighthouse 153.

Beer lovers can expect a lineup centered around crisp lagers, hop-forward IPAs, and rotating releases. They’re working with small NZ hops farms to get their hands on most expressive hops they can get.

While the brewery remains a major part of the concept, Lighthouse 153 is also introducing something Hanover has been missing: a dedicated seafood restaurant. The owners said they saw an opportunity after the area’s longtime seafood restaurant closed, making the combination of fresh seafood and house-brewed beer a natural fit.

The building has also undergone a significant renovation, expanding seating to more than double, including a 27-seat bar, which allows the brewery to better accommodate both dining and brewery customers. Because of the increased demand they expect from the restaurant, the team plans to focus on serving beer in-house before considering can releases or wider distribution.

Lighthouse 153 is also no stranger to the restaurant industry. The owners opened Lighthouse 153 inside Franklin Street Social food hall in Red Lion, giving them experience before taking on the larger brewery project.

Once open, guests can expect approximately 12 taps, featuring Lighthouse beers alongside guest beverages, with occasional outdoor events planned in the alley behind the brewery.

For Hanover craft beer fans, Lighthouse 153 represents more than just a new brewery. It keeps brewing alive in the former Something Wicked location while giving the space an entirely new identity centered around great beer, seafood, and community.
