We Asked PA Brewers & Owners: What Are You Drinking This Holiday Season? (2022 Edition)

With the amount of craft beer options available to beer drinkers in PA, there are almost infinite choices to drink during the holidays this year. We wanted to know what the makers of some of your favorite beverages have in their glasses.

So yearly, we ask brewers and owners all across the state “What are you drinking this holiday season?” Here are their responses this year (2022).

“Sierra Nevada Celebration through January.”Kevin Margitich, Owner of Hidden River Brewing

“Barleywines” – Adam Chamberland, Owner/Brewer of Cartel Brewing

“Tequila” Mike LaRosa – Owner/Director of Brewing Ops of New Trail Brewing Company

“New Years Eve Staff Party and Beer Share Preview: Second Sin Beer – I Survived 2022 Hazy Double IPA. Barrel Aged Beer with some highlights from Smog City, Revolution, Hill Farmstead, Firestone Walker, and Jester King.”Mike Beresky, Co-Owner of Second Sin Brewing Company

“Celebration mostly. Some bourbon. Pilsner always. And well-balanced pale ales, both hazy and classic.”Andrew Witchey, Founder/Brewer of Dancing Gnome

“We get so many samples from other breweries that I can honestly say it’s a wonderful cornucopia of varieties we’re enjoying – but Pour Man’s Perspective Pilsner is a nice go-to at the end of a busy night.”Jason Ufema, Owner of Shy Bear Brewing

“Well besides our 24-day adult advent calendar of cocktails, we almost always have two non-McCall beers in our fridge this time of year. Celebration and Blizzard of Hops.”Chris McCall, Co-Founder of McCall Collective Brewing

“Free Will Ralphius and Troegs Mad Elf.”Ryan Seiz, Brewmaster of Warwick Farm Brewing

“I’m making a point to go through bottles I’ve been aging, so there’s a good amount of Bruery 12 Days Collection beers I’m finally getting through. I also love, love, LOVE to blend Mad Elf and a Russian Imperial with a side of dark chocolate and some aged cheese.”Mike LaCouture, Co-owner of Broken Goblet Brewing and Mutual Respect Co-op

“Smoked beers, bigger stouts, barleywine, and Pilsner… not in that order.”Scott Smith, Owner/Founder of East End Brewing

“My forever holiday season brew is always Mad Elf…just can’t help it.. when I’m not sipping on a Mad Elf or Troegenator I’m lucky enough to have regular visits from brewers that bring all sorts of beer for me to try….I have an Old Thunder in stein at the moment…can’t go wrong there!”John Trogner, Co-Owner of Troegs Independent Brewing

“During the holiday season, I generally like to drink Miller High Life or Coors Banquet. If I’m feeling festive I’ll dive into some Mad Elf or really any BA stout.”Shawn Cannon, Brewer at Free Will Brewing

“I’ll happily be imbibing some Levity Medulla Oblongata IPA and Spel Czech Pilsner. Cheers!”Jared Herman, Owner/Head of Production of Levity Brewing Co

“I’ve really been enjoying our Winter ale. When I’m not drinking our Winter, Penn Brewery’s St Nicholas Bach is a staple winter beer for me.”Ryan Slicker, Co-owner/Head Brewer of 412 Brewing

“Outside the brewery, I’ll be drinking Sierra Nevada “Celebration” til it’s off the shelves. I find myself sampling the entire draft menu at the brewery as a means to make sure consistency and quality is up to par.”Jason Sheptak, Head Brewer at Stable 12 Brewing

“Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale, Duport Avec Les Bons Voeux, De Dolle Stille Nacht, Human Robot Assimilator Doppelbock”Ken Correll, Co-Founder of Human Robot
