Hatfield Township Responds To Accusations From Imprint Beer

By now you may be familiar with what is going on with Imprint Beer. If you are not, you can read our original story explaining the situation here. In summary, the brewery recently stopped producing beer at their brewery, along with firing and then subsequently blocking on social media, a good portion of their staff.

In the (now deleted) original statement Imprint placed the blame for their decisions directly on Hatfield Township. They have since deleted the post that explained the decision making process, but you can find screenshots of it here. The story would go on to take an odd turn as Imprint would delete the original announcement and begin going on the defensive against users online. A story you can find here.

Imprint would go on to say the following, placing exclusive blame on the township for rising costs which impacted the business

For economic reasons, we made a painfully hard decision to stop beer production in Hatfield… After approving our brewing operations for three years – with zero financial demands – Hatfield Municipal Authority started applying hefty surcharges on our water usage and wastewater volumes. These surcharges were assessed immediately after our brewery expansion in 2021… In the past 3.5 years, these Municipal Authority costs have exceeded $200,000, adding a significant cost to every barrel of beer that we produce.

Recently we reached out to the township to confirm the details above. In a statement provided to Breweries In PA, the township had the following to say about the accusations:

“Hatfield Township has no interest in publicly feuding with a local business; we are only interested in serving and building relationships with our over 1,500 businesses and almost 19,000 residents.  We treat every person and organization within our community the way we would want to be treated – with respect and fairness.”

As of this writing this is the only response for the township addressing the matter. We will continue to update as more information is made available.
