Attic Brewing Company, located in the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia, has brewed its newest “Give Back” Beer with NBA Champion and Germantown native Rasheed Wallace.
“Roscoe’s Triple Hazy IPA” will be released Friday, October 15th, 2021 and 10% of sales will be donated to the Simon Gratz High School Athletic Department.
Rasheed Wallace and his brother Tarik Wallace grew up in Germantown. They became fans of Attic Brewing over the past year and approached owners Laura and Todd Lacy about doing a collaboration. They all share an appreciation for great beer and a commitment to the neighborhood so it makes a perfect match.
The brothers worked with Attic’s head brewer Bogdan Lisachenko to create the recipe for “Roscoe’s Triple Hazy IPA.” The 9.4% Hazy IPA is brewed with lots of Mosaic, Cashmere, Idaho 7 and Vic Secret hops. It’s a big beer with bold flavors aptly named Roscoe, one of many nicknames Rasheed earned during his time in the NBA because of his big personality and antics. It has lots of tropical fruit flavors and malty sweetness with a nice hop bite. The can art was designed by local artist Nik Johnson.
Rasheed played 16 years in the NBA but got his start playing basketball at Simon Gratz High School, a few blocks from Attic Brewing Co. He and current Gratz Basketball Head Coach Lynard Stewart were teammates on the undefeated 1992-93 Gratz team. Rasheed has continued to support this community by sponsoring a free youth basketball camp and organizing Stop the Violence rallies.
Attic Brewing Co. will be hosting a release party on Friday, October 15th at 5pm. “Roscoe’s Triple Hazy IPA” will be available on draft and in 4 packs of 16oz cans to-go. Rasheed Wallace will be joining the party via zoom.
“Roscoe’s Hazy IPA” is the sixth in a series of Give Back Beers from the brewery. Other beers in the series include:
• (January 2020) Hot Gold Hush donations to Zoos Victoria Australian Bushfire Relief

He grew up in Germantown and is a graduate of Simon Gratz High School where he was named the 1993 USA Today’s Player of the Year.
