Grand Opening: Lavery Brewing Lager Haus July 31st (Titusville)

As we wrote in the past Lavery Brewing (Erie) purchased the former home of Blue Canoe Brewing. Their second location will be at 113 S Franklin St in Titusville and is scheduled to open Wednesday July 31st! They will have 11 fresh delicious beers on tap as well as a brand new menu for guests to enjoy starting at 3:00 PM.

We recently spoke with brewery owner Jason Lavery to understand the expansion a bit more. “We want to be sure this location has its own identity. The craft beer market is getting crowded and we have found that by being authentic and creating beers and a menu that we, as a company and team, are proud of- really resonates  with our customers.” Jason said regarding the motivation behind adding a new location.

The Titusville location will focus on German style beers with every beer being decotion mashed. If you’re not familiar, decoction mashing is a way to conduct multi-step mashes without adding additional water or applying heat to the mash tun.

“Our Erie location is more a brewery with a tap room, and our Titusville location is a restaurant with a brewery” Jason said of how the new location will differ from their original brewery in Erie.

Titusville will have a 7 bbl steam brewhouse with four 14 bbl fermenters and serving tanks as well. Jason confirmed with us that they anticipate the Blue Canoe staff staying on when the Lavery brewery opens. They have met with many of the existing team members and the plan is to keep them all working.

The ultimate goal for Lavery is to open “a brewhouse that can decoct and a really big kitchen to play around in” Lavery said. Their Titusville location will offer food that will be treated as elevated comfort food.

“Even though we’ll be brewing German-style beers at the new location, we will also have our other beers on tap as well. Four of the twelve taps will be Titusville brewed beers and the other eight will be Erie beers that are shipped down” Lavery added.

“We’ve been brewing lagers for a long time now and this Titusville location was a perfect opportunity to create something new and unique. We also get the best of both worlds (thanks Act 166!) since we can ship our IPA’s, Stouts, Saisons and everything else down from Erie”.

Make sure to follow them on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to stay up to date on all of the excitement coming from this new location.
