Grand Opening: Punch Buggy Brewing August 8th (Philadelphia)

The craft beer scene in the city of brotherly love (and Pennsylvania) continues to expand as Punch Buggy Brewing officially opens their doors on Thursday, August 8th. The brewery will be opening at 1445 N. American Street.

We recently spoke with brewery owner Patrick Coyne to learn more about what Philly can expect with this new brewery. Learn about their offerings, operating hours and inspiration behind the brewery from our conversation below.

BIPA: What is the size of the brewery, and how many taps will be offered?

Patrick: 1 BBL – Very small but gives us a lot of freedoms to test and get creative. We have an 8 tap set up.

BIPA: Where did you get the inspiration for the brewery name?

Patrick: I had a 1971 VW beetle as my first car. It was passed down in the family from my Aunt in California to his dad who drove it to PA to him when he went away to college. The car became a symbol in Kutztown and the name grew legs from there.

BIPA: Will you have any food available?

Patrick: We will be concentrating on our gourmet grilled cheese. To start we will keep it simple with out 3 cheese and our jalapeno popper grilled cheese.

BIPA: What’s the background of the brewers?

Patrick: We have 4 brewers who are collaborating on brews. 2 brewers have professional experience and 2 brewers are talented and experienced homebrewers.

BIPA: What are the styles of beer guests can expect?

Patrick: We will be keeping it rotating constantly. One of the reasons we went so small with the brewing equipment is that we can have a quick turn around on styles and flavors for our customers.
