Necromancer Brewing Company is poised to open a second location at the former Hough’s at 563 Greenfield Avenue, in the Greenfield Neighborhood of Pittsburgh. They plan to open this location by September 1st.
“The owners at Hough’s have passed the torch to us and we couldn’t feel luckier,” says owner Ben Butler. “For us, we’re thrilled to bring you a Necromancer spin on the lovely bones (pun intended) of Hough’s. Our mantra for this project is, ‘British Pub, but make it Necromancer.”
In addition to 18 taps featuring Necromancer beer, and other local breweries, the 4200+ sq/ft pub will bring an elevated food program as well as a cask ale bar in the location’s lower lounge area. The brewery will utilize the full-service kitchen, brick pizza oven, fryers, and a 500-lb smoker.
The taproom will also open early for a coffee program featuring drip coffee, a selection of other coffee drinks, and breakfast items.
The second location comes in conjunction with Necromancer’s expansion at its Ross Township location. The brewery is in the midst of renovating its taproom and is expecting a larger system to be online by the end of June. This expansion will see them triple capacity, with a taproom expansion coming in the next month as well.
Necromancer Brewing first opened in 2021 at 2257 Babcock Boulevard in the Ross neighborhood of Pittsburgh. An award-winning brewery, they have been focusing on resurrecting “dead beer styles”. They also recently celebrated their second anniversary and won Bronze in the 2023 World Beer Cup for Extra Special Bitter.
