As we shared in the past, Night Shift Brewing announced late last year their intentions to expand into Pennsylvania; specifically the Roxborough neighborhood of Philadelphia. Well, it looks like those plans have been canceled.
As you can see below, the brewery recent posted an update through social media.
.
The post states, the recent pandemic had a major part to do with the decision.
“The COVID-19 pandemic shook our business to the core, and obviously almost everything outside of it. Link above has the full story, but in short – we hope to be back at this sooner than later. Thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way.” the post proclaims.
As was previously reported, with nearly 31,000 barrels brewed in 2018, Night Shift was still behind Lord Hobo (37,800), Tree House (44,300), Jack’s Abby (49,000) and Wachusett (69,500). Night Shift expects to crank out about 40,000 barrels this year. But the Philadelphia brewery could enable it to leapfrog them all. Night Shift was expecting to clear 100,000 not long after the Philly operation opened.
No word on if the brewery plans to revisit the idea once this is all over, but as we learn more we will continue to update.
