Tattered Flag Announces Closure; Last Day Of Business Set For October 1st

Tattered Flag Brewery was originally listed for sale starting in May 2023 (a listing that included the Middletown building, the distillery, the brewery, and all associated equipment). However, the brewery has decided to close entirely, having recently announced the closure, with the final day of operations Sunday, October 1.

“We are grateful for the community and people that have visited us. We are also grateful to the veteran community who has supported us over the years.” – Pat Devlin, co-owner of Tattered Flag Brewery told us about the plan to close.

We spoke further Devlin, to learn more about the closure and what led to it. You can read that conversation below.

BIPA: Can you tell us what led to the closure?

Pat: We had a lot of expansion during Covid, and also the higher costs of everything. Our debt expanded during covid, and in the world of post-Covid, inflation and interest rates have killed us.

Locations:

Lancaster Barrel House – Opened Sept 2021, Closed Nov 2022
Hershey Biergarden – Yah Brew took over and opened in April 2023
Hollywood Casino Grantville – Opened August 2021, Closed May 2023
Gettysburg Taproom – Lease ran out, and closed in Jan 2023
• Middletown

BIPA: Will you still be making beer?

Pat: Yes we will be up until October. Our plan is to put out a lot of nostalgic fan-favorite beers from over the years.

BIPA: Are you still distilling?

Pat: Yes we will still have distilled products available inhouse and to-go.

BIPA: Will the restaurant still be open until October?

Pat: Yes, but we are cutting hours, so make sure to please check the website. Our goal is to take care of the staff.
