UPDATE as of 5/18 11:00 AM: In the post below we showcased how Tired Hands addressed misconduct they had recently been accused of. The post has since been removed from social media. To date, this had been the only public statement on the matter by the brewing company. The text of the post can be found at the bottom of this article. There are now also stories being shared of production being halted due to employees’ reactions to the situation. By now you may have heard of the stories of misconduct (most of which included stories of sexism) within the craft beer industry. This story here offers a deep review of the situation and we highly recommend reading the piece to understand the story a bit better. Our comments on the matter can be found here.

One of the breweries who found themselves highlighted a bit more than others (so much so that the original Instagram user had an entire section for stories involving them) was Ardmore, PA based Tired Hands Brewing.

Many apologies for the delay in communication here, but we wanted to get this right with our team before communicating with you, our wonderful guests.

It has been saddening and humbling to read accounts from former colleagues and employees about our company and our culture that we have built and that we love.

I am thankful to Brienne (@ratmagnet), a well respected and vital member of the brewing community, for starting and perpetuating this important dialogue.

To the extent that any of these statements are true, Julie and I take personal accountability. This is our company. We love it. It’s who we are and how we’ve met so many wonderful folks in this life.

Throughout our nine-year history, we have strived to make our company a safe, happy and healthy place to work and that commitment to our employees is ongoing. But clearly, we totally can and must do better.

Earlier today, we informed staff that we would hold listening sessions where employees should feel comfortable and encouraged to share their feelings and thoughts about our culture and offer their suggestions for improvements. While we have conducted these engagements yearly, this does not seem to be sufficient. I will also be stepping aside for a bit to allow our exceedingly talented leadership team to flourish.

We want to hear you, to listen to you, and to critically rebuild our workplace into a more positive, healthier and safer environment.
