After a four-week voting period, Wallenpaupack Brewing Company was recently awarded first place for “Best Fall Beer Release” in USA Today’s 10Best for their Pumpkin Ale release.
Public voting began on August 7th and ended on September 4th with the Northeastern Pennsylvania craft brewery coming out on top out of a pool of 20 candidates chosen by a panel of experts.
“Seasonal beer drinking has had a major influence within the trend of craft brewing over the past decade and fall beer releases are so eclectic in their variety of styles and creativity that they tend to create the most passion from consumers,” said Brad Beneski, Direct of Business Development. “So, being voted number one out of the other incredible breweries and beers that were nominated for this polls is something that we are really excited and humbled by.”
Nominees for USA Today’s 10Best categories are chosen by a panel of relevant experts which include a combination of editors from USA TODAY; editors from 10Best.com; relevant experts; and other well-traveled and well-educated contributors who are both authorities in their fields and discriminating in their tastes.
Wallenpaupack’s Pumpkin Ale— an exceptionally balanced pumpkin ale brewed with real pumpkin, cinnamon, clove, ginger, and nutmeg— is released every fall, hitting retailers by the first week of September. Coming in at 6.8% alcohol-by-volume and boasting a rich, mahogany color with balanced sweetness, Pumpkin Ale has become a fan favorite both at Wallenpaupack’s brewpub and within their distribution footprint.
“Brewing quality and consistent beer is something that our brewers take seriously year-round; but when it comes to our fall beer releases, we have so much fun being able to dive into what we consider to be the most diverse of beer seasons—drawing influence from German brewing history as well as crafting spice-forward recipes like Pumpkin Ale.” Beneski said. “In addition to our original recipe, we’re always releasing riffs on the classic like our Pumpkin Spiced Latte, Smoked Pumpkin Porter, and more.”
Pumpkin Ale, as well as Wallenpaupack’s entire portfolio of award-winning craft beers, is available at retails in Northeastern Pennsylvania, directly from the brewpub, and the rest of the commonwealth via direct-to-consumer shipments at Bierme.com.
