After The Party from Neshaminy Creek Brewing Co.

by Tyler Kitchenmen

After The Party is a dry Irish coffee stout with 4.0% ABV from Neshaminy Creek Brewing Co. in collaboration with the Menzingers.

This dark dry stout is one of the latest additions to the Neshaminy Creek lineup. They recently released a DIPA in honor of the punk band and their friends the Menzingers but After the Party is actually a collaboration brew with the band. The stout doesn’t pack much of a punch when it comes to ABV but it definitely makes up for it when it comes to flavor.

The beer has a strong malty dry backbone that is reminiscent of most of its fellow stouts in the Irish category. In this brew, NCBC has also brought coffee to the party. Following their success with Coffee J.A.W.N, the brewers at NCBC are no strangers to incorporating our favorite morning (or any time of day) drink into their beer.

This stout starts off huge with a malt profile that is dry and toasty but then finishes with that strong coffee taste. The stout does the job if you’re a big Irish stout lover but make sure you’re a coffee person before enjoying this brew. The beer is really a refreshing new twist on a perhaps predictable style. Brewers all over the world have been adding coffee to stouts. More often than not these stouts are aged or have the addition of lactose. Imperial, milk and the popular breakfast stout are the usual suspects when it comes to a coffee infused stout.

More recently brewers in the U.S. have been adding coffee to IPAs, ales and even a kolsch at St. Benjamin Brewing. But Neshaminy Creek has found at least a locally original way to bring coffee into the mix. I’m sure they’re not the only brewery to do it but they definitely do it right. This stout is a true hybrid of beer styles. It has the ability to bring both stout lovers and coffee lovers together for one delicious brew. It’s a beer that brings people together and that’s what it’s all about.
