Aji Limo Rojo is a Red Ale collaboration beer with Rivertowne and Darwin Brewing out of Bradeton, Florida with 6.9% ABV. Brewed with 8 varieties of malt and sweet-hot Aji Limo peppers this beer has a slight kick with a spicy aroma. Pouring to a dark amber this ale produces pillowy light brown head that dissipates quickly with considerable lacing.
First sips give off an intense roasted malt flavor, almost biscuity. There’s a bite of spice in the finish that has some heat, but does not sting the tongue or linger much. This is hardly a spicy beer, drinkers should not be scared off by the potential of a “hot” beer. Well balanced Aji should be thought of as a red ale with a twist, not an experimental beer for the sake of experimenting.
