Always A Home Game is an American Golden Lager from Rivertowne Brewing Co. with an ABV of 4.2% made for, but definitely not exclusively for tailgating all summer long.
As a golden lager this brew pours to a hazy yellow color with an even white, quick dissolving head that leaves some lacing on the glass. You’ll notice the aroma of grain and piny funk as well as a very subtle sweetness.
This brew’s substantial carbonation is present right from the first sip, giving it a very crisp flavor of grain and sweet malt. Despite its funky scent there’s really just enough hop flavor to balance this beer, certainly more of a background flavor with malt serving as the backbone. Always A Home Game finishes rather light and somewhat dry without much lingering flavor or bitter aftertaste-a true lager.
High carbonation and low ABV are what allows this beer to truly live up to its billing as a pre-game, tailgating beer that after a few can certainly give you a buzz, but won’t leave you stumbling to the gate wondering where you put your ticket. A nice upgrade from the more common macros that usually pervade the parking lot scene Rivertowne gives sports fan a better alternative that is an approachable beer for the masses.
