Style: Russian Imperial Stout
ABV: 9.1

This week’s edition of Homebrewer Spotlight Sunday features a heavy hitting Rye Whiskey Barrel-Aged Russian Imperial Stout.  Angry Mob is the brainchild of Brendan Donahue of Gypsy Lane Brewing of Collegeville, PA.  This Russian Imperial Stout was bottled in November of 2017 after being aged in a Dad’s Hat Rye Whiskey Barrel.  One year later, this beer is tasting incredible.

When poured out, Angry Mob pours a rich black color with a tan/off white one-finger head that hangs around and laces the glass as you sip this beer.  Upon pouring, aromas of rye spice, vanilla, dark chocolate and coffee greet your nose.  Those same notes are present as you sip on this beast, and a gentle warming sensation follows and burns as you work on this glass.  A full-bodied mouthfeel allows those robust flavors to linger on your palate between sips before the glass calls you back for more.  At 9.1%, Angry Mob is the perfect beer to share with others, or sip on a cold night to warm up.  Whether you share it or keep to yourself, one thing is for sure about this beer; once you finish your bottle, you’ll join others in the Angry Mob begging for your next bottle from Gypsy Lane Brewing.
