Chatty Monks Brewing Announces New Ownership

Chatty Monks Brewing has been producing its handmade craft beer and scratch menu in Reading, PA since 2014. They’ve become synonymous with producing one of the most robust dining experiences you will find in Berks County.

After roughly seven years in operation, the brewery announced a change in ownership. You can see the post over social media below that announced the change.

As shared in the post above, Chatty Monks confirms that guests can expect new changes as the Jagadesan family takes over, but no official plans are confirmed. One thing not expected to change is the breweries stand within the Fairground Farmers Market, as that plans to stay open.

EDL Consolidated, the company behind the purchase, is owned by Rajavel Jagadesan, and his daughter Devi Jagadesan, who have both spent their careers in the food manufacturing space. According to his LinkedIn profile, Rajevel has spent the past 20+ years with Palace Foods and the past 6+ years as President of Sambar Kitchen, both in specialty food manufacturing. On Devi’s LinkedIn profile, she has spent the last 3 years as co-owner of Sambar Kitchen, while also completing her master’s degree.

The purchase of the brand is also coupled with a revamping of the brew system itself. As per this post on Facebook, former Free Will owner and head brewer John Stemler has been brought on as a brewing consultant, working alongside the new owners.

With the decades-long career in the food space from ownership, coupled with this new approach to brewing, guests should continue to follow the Chatty Monks brand to see what excitement awaits them. Follow the brewery on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to keep up with their growth.
