Adjuncts: Lemon Zest

Lemon Meringue IPA by Brewery Techne at Bar Hygge in Philadelphia is brewed with all-Citra hops and is whirlpooled with the zest of 100 lemons. As if that was not enough citrus for this beer, it is then dry-hopped with 1lb of Citra hops per barrel.

This offering pours a hazy golden amber with aromas of lemon and tropical aromas jumping out of the glass, enticing you to take your first sip. Upon first sipping the glass, you’ll notice a nice soft mouthfeel. In the middle, you’ll get just the right dosage of lemon on your palate from the whirlpool addition of the zest of 100 lemons. Along with the lemon, you get a decent amount of sweetness from the malt that helps balance out the slight bitterness from the Citra hops on the finish. Each sip of this beer finishes dry and leaves a decent amount of lacing on the side of the glass.

Check this beer out at Brewery Techne at Bar Hygge in Fairmount or Earth Bread & Brewery in Mount Airy, two wonderful Philadelphia brewpubs owned by Tom Baker and Peggy Zwerver. Stay tuned for more on Brewery Techne at Bar Hygge!
