Lost Mined Brewing Set To Close And Listed for Sale

A piece of downtown Shamokin’s recent commercial revitalization is on the market, as the real estate and operational assets of the Lost Mined Brewing Company & Restaurant have been listed for sale. With the brewery also announcing on social media that they will officially close on June 28th

When Lost Mined Brewing Company initially opened its taproom doors, it marked the end of a 46-year era during which Shamokin had no active commercial breweries.

The business originated from a small-scale hobby. Founder Dennis Kaleta began brewing craft beer using a standard pot on his kitchen stove before expanding operations to a backyard “brew shed.” Over time, Kaleta engineered a custom, one-barrel gas-fired system featuring temperature-controlled fermenters and a high-capacity grain crush system.

The enterprise eventually moved out of the backyard and into the heart of the city’s business district, establishing a full-scale commercial footprint designed to celebrate and reflect the region’s historic anthracite coal mining heritage.

Located at 100 S. Market Street at the corner of Market and Spruce streets, the turnkey commercial property is currently active on the market for $349,000, according to public MLS data. The listing marks a transitional period for a business that holds a unique milestone in the city’s modern history.

The sale is structured as a fully operational, asset-inclusive transaction. Real estate records indicate the list price has adjusted from its initial December opening figure of $399,000 down to the current $349,000 evaluation.

The listing comprises:

  • The Structure: A three-story, 3,861-square-foot brick commercial building built circa 1900.

  • Brewing Infrastructure: All commercial-grade brewing equipment and hardware currently on-site.

  • Intellectual Property: The complete library of proprietary house beer recipes developed by the brewery.

  • Taproom Assets: A fully outfitted bar and dining area capable of supporting 30 unique draft lines.

  • Licensing: A Pennsylvania retail liquor license is included as a primary component of the business transfer.

  • Additional Land: An adjacent real estate parcel located directly across the street, deeded for dedicated off-street vehicle parking.

As the property remains active on the market, day-to-day operations continue. Potential buyers or interested parties can monitor the listing status or review the building parameters directly through the Bressi & Martin Real Estate Listing or view historical business details via the Lost Mined Website.
