Perpetual IPA from Troegs Independent Brewing

Perpetual IPA is an Imperial Pale Ale from Tröegs Independent Brewing brewed with Bravo, Chinook and Mt. Hood alongside dry hops Cascade and Citra. Pouring to a golden yellow with a thick, slow dissolving head Perpetual offers a little citrus aroma with a hint of pine. Subtlety is the name of the game for this brew as its hop to malt ratio delivering a balanced tasting experience. First sips offer a malt forward profile with caramel notes before transitioning into some hop dankness that lingers on the tongue.

As the beer warms the malt does become harder to detect, as it takes on a juicier profile while still finishing dank and hoppy. Hoppy finish and all, 85 IBUs and all, imperial status and all this brew should not scare off those wary of a bitter brew. Its complexity and balance make it a beverage everyone can take something from without being too put off by any one flavor. Plus, at a moderate 7.5% ABV it warms nicely and can be enjoyed as a single can, but also not too much to stretch for a double.
