Plowshare Porter is a 5.8% ABV, 40 IBU American Porter from Old Forge Brewing Company in Danville, PA and is made with chocolate malts.
Plowshare pouts to a dark brown color with a white head as aromas of hops, chocolate, and some smoke are apparent. Roasted malt, cocoa, some caramel, a touch of coffee, and earthy hops hit your tastebuds immediately. None of these are too overpowering, and are well balanced in this Porter.
Each flavor flows into one another without stepping on the others toe, like a well-made dessert this brew has all of the complexity and nuance without any muddling of individual flavors.
Overall, this beer is very drinkable for the style, it has a medium bodied that coats the tongue well, while not overly sweet or cloying. Plowshare Porter is available from October-November, so grab it while there are still some left on the shelves!
