Overbite IPA from Old Forge Brewing Company

Overbite IPA is an American Pale Ale from Old Forge Brewing Company brewed with Pacific Northwestern hops.

Pouring to a dense, almost amber color this brew has a fresh pine aroma with a cloud-like off white head that slowly dissolves without much lacing. Balanced well with malt this ale has some biscuity sweetness to go with a slight bitterness from the hops (75 IBU). Available year round this IPA serves as an excellent introduction to the style of beer as it brushes up against the edge of dank without diving completely into it. While those familiar with pale ales will still enjoy its subtlety and won’t mind adding it to their rotation or filling out their beer fridge with this standard from Old Forge.

This particular beverage was paired with smoked kielbasas and horseradish that cut through its moderate 7.5% ABV without drowning out its flavor. Any smoked meat or cheese would pair well with Overbite as IPAs and fatty foods go together like, well, IPAs and fatty foods. As most full bodied beers do this one lingers on the tongue, another reason the fats do so well to accentuate the previous sip while preparing the drinker for another gulp.
