Voodoo Brewing Company is preparing to open its first Washington, D.C.-area location on October 24 in Herndon, Virginia. Voodoo Herndon will bring the Pennsylvania-based brewery’s beers and pub fare to 2315 Dulles Station Boulevard.
The new location’s opening comes as Voodoo looks to move forward under new ownership and continue supporting its franchise network. In an email to Breweries in PA, Franchise & Brewery Marketing & Distribution Support Manager Tom Guzick said the industry has changed significantly and the company has had to adapt.
“Since our ownership change in June, things have been looking positive,” Guzick said, adding that the company is focused on growth and supporting its franchisees.
That includes expanding food and cocktail offerings while bringing in local guest taps to give customers more variety and support breweries in each location’s community. Voodoo has also introduced Alternative Octane, its nonalcoholic beer, and is developing a seltzer using a byproduct from nonalcoholic beer production.
“Craft beer remains a big part of who we are, but we’re not afraid to evolve to keep the business moving forward,” Guzick said.
Voodoo Herndon will be independently operated through the company’s franchise model. More information is available through the Voodoo Herndon website and its Instagram page.

Voodoo Brewing’s History and Recent Closures
Founded in Meadville, Pennsylvania, in 2005, Voodoo Brewing grew from a local brewery into a multi-state brand through its franchise program, launched in 2018. The company’s footprint has included locations across Pennsylvania and throughout the country, with independently owned franchisees operating many of its pubs.
The expansion has also come with recent challenges. Voodoo’s Scranton location closed on September 30, following its announcement that it would permanently shut down. The company’s Jacksonville, Florida, franchise also closed on September 15 after roughly two years in business. The Jacksonville closure came amid reported financial difficulties and a dispute over unpaid rent.
Voodoo’s official location directory continues to list locations across multiple states. The company has two corporate-owned locations, its Meadville production facility, known as The Compound, and its State College pub, with the wider network largely built through franchising.
As Voodoo moves into the next chapter of its business, the Herndon opening marks another addition to that network while the company continues adjusting to a changing craft beer market.
