Double Shakes is a 8.5% ABV double coffee porter from Hitchhiker Brewery (Pittsburgh, PA). This is the imperial version of Hitchhiker’s coffee porter, and conditioned on top of Ethiopian Yirgacheffee cold brew coffee from 19 Coffee Company.
Pouring to a dark black, you’ll notice a big tan head in your glass. Lacing in your glass is minimum for this one. Once we cracked open the can, robust coffee is very noticeable. It’s almost as if you’re about to drink a cup of coffee!
Tasting Double Shakes brings a creamy but subtle coffee flavor. This coffee stays all the way through from front to end. You would expect this to taste similar to a coffee stout but it tastes more like a beer.
