Breweries In Pennsylvania Offering A Next Level Coffee Experience

It seems that in Pennsylvania craft breweries are fully embracing the world of coffee. Maybe because both are home brewed. Maybe because both can be seen as stimulants. But if you are a fan of both there are many breweries in Pennsylvania that are must visits.

Below we take a look at some of those breweries who have fully embraced the world of both beer and coffee.

Stolen Sun Brewing & Roasting | Exton, PA

Stolen Sun recently opened in Exton, and as the name suggests they offer both hand crafted beer and freshly roasted coffee. The full list of rotating craft beer being offered isn’t the only liquid being crafted onsite. As you’ll see below they roast their own coffee onsite.

“The Stolen Sun handcrafted coffee experience begins where our coffee beans start their life-cycle, on the farm at their origin. What makes our coffee unique is the process in which we go through to insure the highest of quality. With each coffee we purchase we’ve traveled to its origin, met each farmer, saw their farm first hand and made sure that all aspects of the coffee’s production is up to our standards. After we’ve found the highest quality beans we roast each perfectly to get the exact flavor profile we desire”

Couple this with a menu full of breakfast, starters and entrees and each guest is offered a complete dining experience. Visit them at their brewery in Exton to experience for yourself.

Steel City Coffeehouse & Brewery | Phoenixville, PA

If you are familiar with the name, that is no surprise. Steel City has been producing their coffee in the Chester County area for years. And as their website says, it was always the intention of owners Laura Vernola and Ed Simpson to add a brewery to the business. (Who can blame them being in Phoenixville?)

In January of 2019, the brewery opened, completing the vision that the owners set out for. The ever-rotating list of beer joins their complete coffee menu of espresso, cold brew, steamer, traditional and other delicious coffee creations. The coffee and beer aren’t the only homemade items onsite. Their robust menu (which includes breakfast, sandwiches and salads) also offers homemade ice cream flavors. Stop by their brewery and coffeehouse in Phoenixville to enjoy many of the offerings for yourself.

Shy Bear Brewing | Lewistown, PA

For Shy Bear, it isn’t about just offering hand-roasted coffee along with their craft beer selection. Coffee is literally in their DNA. As with most breweries Shy bear is a family run business. And coffee roasting is in the family’s history.

You wont see Shy Bear market themselves as a coffee house. But with the family’s history in coffee roasting, you are sure in for a treat when you visit their brewery in Lewistown. Stop in for one of their many rotating hands made draft beers and accompany your visit with a latte, rich roasted cold brew or more traditional cup of coffee along with the 30+ items on the menu!

Hitchhiker Brewing | Pittsburgh, PA

Unlike the breweries mentioned before, Hitchhiker took their coffee offering a little further than offering coffee to drink. For them it’s not about having coffee at their location, instead, they allow customers to purchase theirs for home use!

In early 2019 Hitchhiker announced its very own coffee brand. ‘Shakes Blend’ officially launched on May 4th, 2019. After years of experimentation using different coffee varietals, Hitchhiker finally landed on the perfect blend of two different beans. Filled with expressive notes of Blueberries, Citrus, Blossoms, Toasted Grains, and Dark Chocolate the Shakes Blend is available at both taprooms to accompany their award-winning beer.

In 2020, the brewery announced plans to open their own bar and coffee taproom!

Mount Gretna Craft Brewery | Palmyra, PA

The Red Canoe General Store is the coffee bar and local market adjacent to their brewery. Nestled inside is Sonder Coffee Co roasting single-origin coffee beans in the shop. For the taste buds, they offer delicious coffee, espresso, and specialty drinks along with kombucha, teas and locally made baked goods, artisan lunch boxes and snacks.

They also carry locally made pantry items, kitchen wares, soaps, and lotions and fun finds for everyday needs or thoughtful gifts.

The Underground At Round Guys | Lansdale, PA

It’s one thing to offer coffee at your brewery. It’s another to offer guests a location that literally sits underground of the Backyard Beans coffee shop. As the name suggests The Underground is a part of the Round Guys Brewing brand.

The location is primarily used for live music and other entertainment. But fear not,  this music venue offers a full bar with local wines and spirits and of course the Round Guys beer the area has come to know and love. The Round Guys/ Backyard Beans relationship has resulted in some unique combinations as you’ll see here. Stop by the Underground to see for yourself.

Tattered Flag Brewery & Distillery | Middleton, PA

You’d think having a brewery AND a distillery onsite would be enough. But Tattered Flag really does offer the full package. Onsite you will find The Nuclear Bean coffee shop.

The Nuclear Bean is open Monday to Saturday from 7 am to 9 pm and Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm. They offer everything you’d expect from a modern coffee shop.
