Death or Glory is a black saison with an ABV 6.66% from Lavery Brewing Co. out of Erie, PA. With its devilish ABV, Iron Maiden inspired name and darker twist on a traditionally pure style of beer.
This malty variation on the saison pours to an expently dark color with a khaki colored head that lingers nicely atop the glass. The aroma is an interesting mixture of the malty sweetness with some hint of fresh cracked black pepper.
Death or Glory melds stout and saison flavors equally from start to finish. First sips are malty with darker fig and cherry flavors emerging alongside a bit of peppery spice. The finish carries those roasted flavors into a crisp, clean finish that reminds drinkers of this brew’s saison base.
