Extended Stay is a session-style IPA with 4.8% ABV from Liquid Hero Brewing Co. out of York, PA. This offering is available year-round in 12 oz. cans and made with a combination Nugget, Simcoe and apparently a super secret third hop. Like seriously, we don’t know what it is and they aren’t telling us either.
This IPA pours to an almost completely clear golden-yellow with a foamy white head that quickly dissolves leaving behind aromatic notes of citrus and island fruit. It should not be understated just how fragrant this brew is, pineapple, lime and floral scents make it feel like you’re opening a little can of paradise.
A lot of these aromas lead into a citrus and fruit forward flavor with detectable notes of melon, pineapple and lime to go with a bit of pine. Mildly carbonated and coming in at a modest 62 IBUs mean this is the definition of a session ale, namely that it’s not too bitter, has a relatively low ABV and finishes clean without much lingering acidity.
Whether you’re a longtime lover of sessions or someone just getting into the IPA scene this ale easily leaves you well satisfied. There is a ton of flavor packed into a thin bodied, crisp beer that you can easily down several of at a time without it blitzing your taste buds with hoppy bitterness found in full and double IPAs.
