Grist House (Pittsburgh, PA) is celebrating six years in business, and yes we can’t believe it’s been SIX years either! You may remember the huge party they threw last year for their 5th, and while they can’t do that again right now, they are looking forward to celebrating with you in person when they are allowed to reopen.
To celebrate, the brewery is releasing some of their favorite beers:
• Double Hazedelic Juice Grenade – 8% DIPA
• Kaboom Kandy: Raspberry Passionfruit – 4.5% Fruited Sour
• Hop Sensei – 9% DIPA
Grist House first opened in Millvale, PA on Memorial Day weekend of 2014. They still use their original brewhouse 15bbl system, with four 15bbl fermenters and one 15 bbl Brite. However, they have significantly increased their capacity, and have added two 30bbl fermenters and a 30bbl Brite, as well as a small pilot system and a canning line.
Their expansion project, which we announced in December of 2019, is still on as planned. They had most of the demo done to the former Cold War Era Nike Missile Command Center before the virus hit. The brewery is still doing as much as they can within the legally allowed scope currently. The timelines may be pushed out a little, but rest assured the project is going to move forward.
Collier Township has also worked with the brewery during the virus, to allow Grist House to set up cans to go at the location as well.
Grist House has used the Millvale taproom downtime to make improvements to their customer experience, and they are ready to reopen once they are allowed.
Join us in congratulating Grist House on 6 years, and here’s to another 6! We certainly can’t wait to get back to the brewery soon and share a brew with them.
