Homebrewer Spotlight: Blackberry Solera from Breakeven Brewing

Blackberry Solera is a 6.2% ABV golden sour ale brewed by Breakeven Brewing (Homebrewer from Berwyn, PA). This golden sour ale was aged in lactobacillus heavy oak and blackberries.

This beer pours to a beautiful (and slightly clear) dark red. It’s almost almost purple, and you’ll notice a small thin white head in your glass. Aromas on this beer is all berries, it’s very noticeable before you even take a sip!

With a light mouthfeel, and great spritzy carbonation, first sips on Blackberry Solera bring that strong blackberry flavor you were hoping for. It’s slightly tart (very approachable at 6.2% ABV) and it’s got a fruity/funk to it that is true to American Wild Ales.
