New Standard from Moss Mill Brewing Brewing Company

Written By Breweries In PA Contributor Kevin Kelly.

Ahh, March. A time where Spring is a second away, and wearing green comes into high fashion. March is also a time dedicated to one classic beer style: STOUTS. A type of beer that is brewed to natural perfection. The folks at Moss Mill Brewing have kept the stout tradition alive with their very own.

Ladies and gentlemen, we introduce you to New Standard. With an ABV of 5.2%, this is a stout with drinkability. Pouring in with a dark brown, impenetrable color; reminiscent of strong Colombian coffee.

Topped with a cinnamon-colored head so pillowy, you would believe it was a piece of freshly baked cake. The stout hits the nose with scents of cocoa and oats. Two ingredients so simple, yet so critical in making this fine brew what it has come to be.

Considered a breakfast stout, New Standard holds its own with hints of roasted java; enough that this beer should be enjoyed during times of relaxation. Each sip is equipped with a chocolate start and a smooth malt finish.

Warming to the touch, New Standard is best served at British cellar temperature of 52°F. This is not a stout that you simply finish and ask, “what’s next;” it is a beer that is enjoyed to the very last drop.

So, if you ever venture into the newly opened Moss Mill Brewing (Huntingdon Valley, PA), make sure you have a friend by your side, and a stout in your hand.
