The Devil’s Pumpkin Ale from Lavery Brewing Co.

The Devil’s Pumpkin Ale is well, a pumpkin ale, with 6.5% ABV from Lavery Brewing Co. located in Erie, PA. Lavery doesn’t mess around when it comes to pumpkin beers as this is only one of the two they offer, the other being the Devil’s Dark Side, a mixture of the pumpkin ale and their 1847 rye stout.

Devil’s Pumpkin Ale pours to a reddish-brown, almost mahogany color with a almost non-existent off white head. You’ll notice a warm pumpkin scent, close to a freshly baked pumpkin or sweet potato pie aroma with spice notes as well. First sips have a ton of pumpkin and pale malt flavor, alongside a distinct biscuit crust, almost like the buttery crust to this beer’s pumpkin spiced center.

This brew’s substantial body allow it to coat your tongue with pumpkin goodness then finish with an enjoyable spice punch. The bitter hop profile courtesy of Northern Brewer hops, alongside Lavery’s spice blend round out its initial sweet taste. Warm, sweet and spicy, Devil’s Pumpkin Ale works well as an after dinner beer that you can enjoy into a second round as the twilight comes and the moon begins rising in the sky.
