‘Yunkin Pumpkin is a pumpkin ale with 5.5% ABV and is available as a fall seasonal from Manayunk Brewing Co. This ale is brewed with a variety of spices and most importantly, real pumpkin.

Pouring to a glowing amber ‘Yunkin produces a thick, but quickly dissolving head that releases an aroma of allspice and nutmeg alongside fresh pumpkin. Light and crisp you’ll notice the pumpkin flavor is quite strong without being heavy. Its flavor is much closer to roasted pumpkin or squash than a pumpkin pie sweetness.

There is some spice flavor on the finish, definitely nutmeg, and while it is brewed with cinnamon there is little to no bite on the end of this brew. A perfect early fall beer this offering from Manayunk is refreshing without too much spiced warmth that other pumpkin ales may offer.

This is a great beer to get you in the fall mood before the weather gets too cold and serves as an excellent compliment to some of Manayunk’s session ales like Grapefruit and Mango Daydreamin’ released over the spring and summer.
