The Five Best PA Beers For Halloween

Halloween is here! And while most people are adding pumpkin to everything they eat or drink, we here at Breweries In PA think there’s more to pairing beer with this holiday.

So here are our top 5 PA Beers to help celebrate Halloween.

Appalachian Brewing | Batch No. 666

When your beer is named Batch No. 666 it isn’t hard to see why you make the top of the list! As described by Appalachian; “Batch No. 666 is a devilish beer conjured up by our brewers in the spirit of Halloween! 666 is produced with 1,666 lbs of malt along with three 6lb hop additions.”

Coming in at 13.666% ABV (no seriously) this is the perfect beer to celebrate Halloween. It’s brewed with the idea of fright and fear in mind. This is a cedar-fermented Imperial Stout brewed with Nutmeg and conditioned on VT Maple Syrup. At that ABV, we can’t help but celebrate Halloween with any other beer.

The easy way to do this list would be 5 pumpkin beers, but we don’t take the easy way out. However we also understand pumpkins and Halloween go together. So when you’re the top rated PA Pumpkin beer, according to Beer Advocate, you will be the only beer to make the list on your pumpkin merits alone. (The other pumpkin beer on this list made it for it’s name sake)

This is an 11.3% barleywine brewed and aged on 200lbs of real pumpkin, madagascar vanilla beans, and cinnamon in bourbon barrels. Pumpkin is front and center with notes of bourbon, oak, vanilla and a touch of cinnamon rounding out the back side.

Full Pint Brewing | Night Of The Living Stout

Processed with Snapseed.

Night of the Living Stout is a stout with 7.1% from Full Pint Brewing Co. located in North Versailles, PA. Pouring to an expected deep brown with a large pillowy, light brown head, that slowly dissolves leaving behind a coffee-like ring about the glass. First sips offer a mixture of creamy stout texture with a strong, roasted coffee bean bitterness and a hint of malty sweetness.

Evil Genius | Trick Or Treat

Untitled

You can’t have a Halloween list without a beer named “Trick or Treat”. This is a 7.8% pumpkin porter brewed with chocolate and spices. This is not your typical pumpkin beer by any means. This is a deep, dark, decadent seasonal delight that is sure to warm you up as the weather starts to cool off. Brewed as a rich robust porter that is spiced with cinnamon, clove and nutmeg.
