Hop Suplex Ale from Saucony Creek Brewing Company is a 10% ABV Imperial IPA. Coming in at 74 IBU’s, this IPA is brewed with Orange Blossom honey and has a nice bitter finish.
At first you might think, “wow 10% this might be too much” but the huge hop flavor, with honey to balance out the bitterness, really keeps you wanting more of this beer. Pouring to a nice orange color you wont get much head on this beer.
The smells you’ll get when pouring this beer in a tumbler or snifter glass are: strong citrus tones of grapefruit and melon and lots of hop aromas. The taste (obviously the fun part for us when reviewing) has a ton of flavors: tons of juicy citrus hops, some orange and pine notes, and a little malt. Overall the honey isn’t that noticeable but does add a little smoothness to this.
Don’t be scared by the ABV on this triple IPA, give it a try! We are excited to try more from Saucony Creek since they are always finding ways to surprise us.
