The Shape of Hops to Come from Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company is a beer we were looking forward to, and it lived up to its “hop bomb” hype. But slow sip this one, it will definitely catch up with you quickly!
Coming in at 8.5% ABV this Imperial IPA has a hefty 98 IBUs. This would definitely be expected given the name of this brew! Dry hopped for two weeks, this beer contains Apollo, Newport, Simcoe, Topaz, and Citra hops with Two Row American Barley as the base malt.
This beer pours to a bright and clear copper/orange color with a substantial foamy head. Smells of all the hops are right up front, as well as tropical fruits, a little malt, and a grass/pine aroma.
Tasting this brings a ton of hop bitterness, as well as a lot of juiciness. You’ll taste some dank and pine-like flavors (not as much as Dank Hill from Neshaminy Creek) and some added citrus flavor to balance things out. Notes of grapefruit, grass, orange, and caramel are also present.
Available in cans from the brewery, and on tap, Neshaminy Creek keeps it coming with the hoppy beers. We have seen this beer in some local stores, but it goes very fast. We can only speculate what’s next but we are excited!
