#Adulting is a guava American IPA with 6.8% ABV from Evil Genius Brewing Co. with a beer garden located in Philadelphia and a complete brewpub expected in winter of 2016. Evil Genius is known for not being afraid to do things a little different-from brewing an “almost IPA” to using movie quotes as the basis for their beer names.
This brew pours to a golden yellow, a thin white heads surrounds the rim and as it slowly dissolves it releases a tropical aroma. There are aromatic notes of banana, guava and pineapple with some traditional hoppy hints.
Brewed with a mixture of Cascade, Citra and Warrior hops there is a lot of fruity flavor to start #Adulting off with citrus and tropical notes. The use of Warrior, a bitter hop, causes this ale to finish with a nice bite and lets the flavor linger on the tongue after finishing.
Not all IPA’s are created equally, this one is a true IPA with all the bitterness you’d expect, but with a tropical fruit forward flavor that balances it out. Those looking for a something a little different in their IPA, that doesn’t completely break the style, should look to give this one a try.
