The Isle of Que Brewing Co (or Que Brew as it is more commonly referred to) is a new brewery that came onto the scene this past January in Selinsgrove, PA. Their name comes from The Isle of Que which is an actual island on the Susquehanna River near their location. It was started by four friends: Mike Salter, Jeremy Boyer, Jason Kinney and Sean Walburn, who turned their homebrew hobby into a viable business.
The brewery is centrally located in downtown Selinsgrove and usually has about 12 beers on tap. Some of the beers I was able to sample during my visit were the Quecumber Kolsch, Peanut Butter Pale Ale, Strawberry Wheat, Watermelon Sour and the Stymie IPA.
All of the flavored beers were easy drinking and didn’t going overboard on the ingredients. Their Peanut Butter Pale Ale, for instance, is a great example of balancing the peanut flavor with the lighter characteristics of a pale ale. Most of the peanut butter beers out on the market are usually stouts or porters. Its refreshing to see a pale ale use the peanut butter ingredient without overdoing it.
Que Brew is a taproom only and doesn’t have a food menu. However, they do work with local near by restaurants where patrons can order a bite to eat; such as the Wicked Dog Grille or Taste of Philly. They also have live music on most weekends.
You can also checkout some of their beers at the upcoming Hops Vines and Wines – Selinsgrove Beer and Wine Festival this July 21st in Selinsgrove.
