With just a beer’s light to guide us… Sterling Pig Brewery created Piggy Stardust, an out of this world classic to pay tribute to the late David Bowie. Striking a balance between the big Belgian yeast and sweet Pilsner & Carahell malts, this beer will take you back in time – get sucked up into your mind.
Piggy Stardust, a Belgian tripel features minimalist ingredients with just two malts, one hop variety (crystal) and an addition of Belgian Candi sugar to reach an 8.4% ABV without adding any extra body. This beer pours a pale golden amber color with lively carbonation from the bottle conditioning. Aromas of banana, clove & bubblegum esters from the yeast are present, along with earthy and herbal notes from the Crystal hops.
Each sip is greeted with a well balanced amount of spice, yeast character and sweetness from the malt and Candi sugars. Though the grain bill of this beer is simple, the complexity of this beer is true to the traditional Belgian tripel. The beer finishes bone dry, calling you back for another sip of the fruit and spice yeast esters and malt sweetness.
